I was diagnosed with Gleason 7 two weeks ago.
Offered surgery or RT.
Been doing some research HIFU sounds good.
And its available on NHS.
Haven't made my mind up yet. Still looking.
Not easy deciding. Pros and cons with each of them.
Any advice welcome.
Hi, and welcome!
Can't advise without knowing your TNM score (tumour, nodes, metastases), as that will define your options, but reading around is a good way to to start. With prostate cancer, the treatments can be pretty awful, with unpleasant side effects at every turn.
Do consider the long term issues; it's easy to focus on the here and now, but PCa is a 20-30 year disease.
And obviously, if your cancer is deemed 'curable' then you'd be wise to select a treatment that is potentially 'curative'; if you don't, then next time you look, the PCa may no longer be curable.
It's also well worth reading the 'toolkit' for general advice.
