Hi everyone I'm new here just got diagnosed yesterday with grade 9 and its really scared the shit out of me

  • So sorry that you’re joining our gang. Where are you in treatment, is it localised do you know? There are still many treatments that might help.

  • Hi Mack, sorry to hear but as Young man says there r many treatment options for u.

Some more info would help u get the best advice

Ie:. Psa, Mri report regards location/spread. How was it picked up, did u have symptoms?

    Regards

    Steve

  • Hi Mack.

I was 71 when diagnosed with a PSA of 11 (rising to 15 by the time treatment started) and a Gleason score of 4+5 = 9. I was T3A N0 M0 (no metastases) and since finishing RT my PSA has been <0.1. I have another two Prostap 3 injections to go and then just PSA tests every 3 months for the first year.

Tell us more about your results, we're here to help.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

Hi Seamus really appreciate ur reply it says Gleason 9(4+5) but it's in my 3rd and 7th left ribs so I'm not sure how bad that is

Not localized in 3rd and 7th ribs Gleason 9 just a bit blown away at moment as to my chance of surviving any length of time

  • Hi Mack

It's always a massive shock when first diagnosed especially when spread.

It is an initial shock though and when on a treatment path this will help u to regain control mentally.

There are people on here where the cancer has spread and  they still post some years later so all is not lost

    Best wishes

  • Hi Mack

After four and a half years being Gleason 9/10 stage four with a start PSA of 893 I’am still here, at first I had it in my spine pelvis shoulder seventh rib now in my pelvis and seventh rib, with one lymph node which has got no bigger.

PC is slow at growing, if it’s attacked, I had docetaxel, radiotherapy and hormone injections, OK I’ve had troubles it is cancer, but being positive doing what I’am told by the team who look after me, I’am hoping to push the boundaries and go on a few more years.

You can to, don’t look down look up, next week there may be a wonder drug, they’ve brought out a few over the years, just waiting for mine to come along.

So Stay safe and be positive.
