I researched about the best blood pressure monitor for the past few days because I want to regularly check my health at home. I read reviews on the New York Times, Consumer Reports, and Popular Mechanics, and they are recommending these two as top choices:
Omron Platinum Blood Pressure Monitor
https://www.amazon.com/OMRON-Platinum-Upper-Pressure-Monitor/dp/B0DXXLYZT
Withings BPM Connect Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor
https://www.amazon.com/Withings-BPM-Vision-Easy-use/dp/B0DYPDF3JD
However, I’m having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and need your expert advice.
At home, I need something accurate, easy to use, and reliable for daily monitoring. It would be great if it has a clear display and maybe app connectivity for tracking readings.
So which one should I buy? Any recommendation will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi Finallen
I have had an Omron machine for over ten years and it is still going strong (unlike me!). I have noticed many times that these are in primary care settings as well, seem to be the work-horse. Can't comment on the latest batch though as not in the market.
Nothing like making a permanent written record of the readings though - I am always a little dubious about too much reliance on "cloud " records. I tend to keep a little treatment diary which has weight/BP/side effects etc noted - and it doesn't need to be kept charged up, is easily portable and requires no internet connection!! (I do embrace technology but some things just need to be manual - I grew up using a Spectrum ZX80 and have built my own PC, but was born before Sputnik flew!!!
All the best

Hi
Indeed arm cuff is required. The position on the arm at about bicep level means the cuff is at the approx height of the heart - so gives appropriate reading in terms of pressure (fluid dynamics not my strong suit!).
The little gizmo on the finger is to measure blood oxygen levels as well as pulse rate so can be a useful tool in the armoury of keeping track of stats (although my Fitbit does that as well...). Just like in good old Covid days!!!!
I too find the Boots machine is very good and durable.
I have a pack of rechargeable AA's which is much cheaper than throw-aways in the long run (typical Yorkshireman - Ow Much?).
