Hi, i am now around 11 weeks post prostatectomy and thought I would share where I'm at, after 2 months off work I returned to my job as a courier, but stayed at the depot sorting and scanning, first day was a bit long ,full shift,so I cut that down by an hour and took breaks every 90 minutes or so,initially it was hard work with splinter like feelings in my penis but over time and sticking to extra breaks and no heavy lifting I find myself 3 weeks back at work and the splinter feeling has now all but gone,I have tried a couple of days as passenger in the van but found the climbing in and out of the van caused discomfort in my stomach so will be cutting back on that for now, I am also an avid runner and do parkrun ,I started back just walking and have now progressed to sub 30 min with run/walk method,am now up to running the last 3k ,also the incontinence has improved to a degree where I only wear pads for work and running as a precaution ,I put this down to being reasonably fit pre op from the running , I am 65 in December,  I hope this will help anyone struggling  hope that it can and does get better,I am due a blood test in August and am feeling positive of a good result from that ,I do believe positivity is really important and makes a difference.

I hope this helpsHeart

  • Thanks. I am 6 weeks post opp and the incontinence is really dragging me down. It just feels like I have had no improvement to hang onto. I have quite a high pressure job with targets and travel and don’t think I could concentrate enough to fulfill my role atm. The incontinence seems so inconsistent. Cry

  • You are still early in your recovery ,try not to be too down on yourself  i know it's hard but keep up with the kegels and  hopefully things will gradually get better for you  remember to do a quick one before you get up from sitting or feel a cough or sneeze coming
