Hello all. I was diagnosed with PC in June 2025 and after a few bouts of prostatitis that was delaying my radiotherapy it was decided to do a TURP as it was felt my poor urine output was causing issues. I had the TURP which was "unremarkable" and came out of hospital without a catheter. I had to go back in and have one because I was in retention.
So far I have had a couple of TWOCs and both failed because I was constipated and couldn't fill my bladder to pass urine. Constipation has been an issue for me in the past I have MS and the doctor has previously said it's slow transit constipation.
I've upped my fibre and following a GP visit am taking Fybogel daily (twice) and drinking about 3 litres of liquid. I still have terrible difficulty with constipation. I've been told by urology that they won't do the planned urodynamics if I'm still constipated. And it's holding up my radiotherapy.
Has anyone had similar experience and can share anything you did? I'm terribly stressed and worried about this daily battle and of course this doesn't help at all. I feel in a real hole with it.
Thank you for any thoughts you might have.
Phil
I’m just wondering if you could increase the fibre in your diet in addition to the other measures. Hope it resolves soon!
I've tried to increase by eating better. Apples, pears, prunes, bran flakes, eating more vegetables, but still it persists. It has been ongoing in the past. I just wonder if I've increased too fast and it's had a negative effect. Just don't know what to do.

Hi ,
my husband also suffers from constipation and we found out the Adcal tablets were to blame . So worth checking as they are white chalky meds . He also found that the fibre didn’t help it was just adding to trapped s…. So we spoke to our local chemist and he suggested trying vitamin c powder a teaspoon in a small glass of water every hour till it flushed him out . It took 5 hours but whrn he went it certainly cleared him out. He said it tasted vile but would do it again if needed. He now takes fresh pineapple or juice and that helps .
a friend who is having chemo said she takes a packet of no sugar polos and that works for her . Sk if he struggles again we will try the polo mints but they gave to be the no sugar one.
you need to be guided by your medics on this and I am not medically trained . This was for information only.
