Having been on Prostap for a couple of months now along with Apalutamide for nearly 3 weeks I have had some odd body happenings and am wondering if they are not so common side effects of the drugs. Thankfully both so far have only given me the hot flushes which only happen while I'm in bed, at least two during the night but I can cope with that.
The odd symptoms are my nose is cold most of the time! I've tried to find out why and the only connection I can find is that Apalutamide does effect our white blood cells and it can cause this symptom.
The other weird occurrence is that both my finger nails and toe nails are growing much faster that usual in the last few months. So is anyone else having either of these symptoms on the two dugs, or am I overthinking things.
I have been on both Prostap and Apalutamide since January 2024.
The hot flushes are very real but in my case not so bad and probabably less than they were in the first place.
Other than that I have had many minor things that have come and gone.Cold toes ,twinges under my ribs, permanently runny nose ,some depression, and so on.
I am sure that some suffer very real and attributable side effects from this medication but in my case I am sure that I have been looking for side effects that are really day to day or ageing afflictions.
I hope that you can put some of your symptoms to bed over time.
Thanks for that, I guess its all part of the process while taking the drugs, interesting side effects that you have had too. Wonder if anyone else will add to our odd list!
Hello newtoallthis
Here's a link to the Patient Information Leaflets included with the injection. As these are done by the GP it's possible you haven't seen them:
Prostap - Patient Information Leaflet.
Apalutamide - Patient Information leaflet.
The list of possible side effects is er - very inclusive to say the least.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Brian,
Once again mate thank you very helpful, and yes you are correct I was not given this information at my local surgery
My reply was probably a bit misleading.I don’t think that these were necessarily side effects from the drugs.Just various odds and sods that happen in life .However it’s all too easy to blame it on the treatment when you are looking for easy explanations.
