Hello Everyone
Well, that's another 12 months flown past. Can I thank you all for the help and support you have given to the Community during the past 12 months - it's not gone unnoticed and your continued contributions are very much welcome in the future.
To keep the Community free for help and advice to other Community members can we all please use this thread for Christmas and New Year greetings and the "No Specific Topic" thread for general "chit-chat".
A little bit of housekeeping - On the matter of advice we give to Community members can we refrain from adding AI or Chat GPT generated advice or any links to videos which are not from a trusted UK source. This is both to comply with The Online Safety Act and to ensure all information comes from trusted sources or personal experience. Thank you for your understanding.
During the year, sadly we have lost some Community members to prostate cancer and if this situation has affected you and your family my thoughts go out to you at this time of the year. A vey special mention here to the families of William (Ulls), Joe (Joeven) and Peter (Alwayshope's husband) who passed away during the year. May they rest in peace.
On a personal note, this time last year I had completed treatment and was wondering if I was "cancer free". The answer is no - I have a "biochemical relapse" so my team are trying me out on intermittent hormone therapy - so it's a case of que sera sera. Watch this space.
So once again Lorraine (Mrs Millibob) and I would like to wish everyone and their families on the Community a very happy Christmas and our best wishes for 2026. We hope you all have a well deserved break and a great holiday with family and friends.
During the Christmas and New Year break there will be "normal service" from me, however the Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 will be working although on reduced hours.
Thank you again for your understanding and continued support.
Brian - Online Community Champion. .
Merry Christmas, Brian.
and Thank You for all advice you have given me during my short time here
Very happy Christmas to all and in particular to our Community Champion Brian. I wish I had known about this site at the start of my own journey.
Let’s raise a glass to absent friends and send a hug to their partners at this very difficult time of year.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
With the best nut roast recipe to be found before the big day and the Christmas trees to be put up later today it is time to recap on a busy year.
With the help of so many of my forum and blog friends I can safely say that I’m a better man with you all and I do really appreciate your help and support all year.
I know how tricky life is for me so I know full sure you’re facing similar challenges, but I am sending you all a happy hug that’ll help you remember the sunshine and the flowers of the spring and summer that’s on its way.
I am always here to help you as much as I can In thanks of the help I’ve received. Happy Christmas ️
️
Thank you Brian for your kind words and to everyone who has supported me since Peter died in August - you know who you are.
I would like to send special thoughts of hope and encouragement especially to the wives and partners whose lives are turned upside down and do such a brilliant job with their support and encouragement but don't forget to look after yourselves as well. I know how difficult having a stage 4 diagnosis can be but there is hope with all the new developments in recent years and more coming on stream all the time.
Peter loved Christmas and always prepared early so it has been difficult when I come across little presents which he had squirreled away. He lived life to the full and was positive right to the end - it was this attitude and determination which gave us more time together than the experts had initially predicted so enjoy your time with family and friends, make memories and keep fighting.
Merry Christmas to you Brian and to all members of the group. You’ve all been a wonderful help to myself and Shawn this year - especially when it helps to put our minds at rest and/or help us keep things in perspective.
i wish you all the very best for Christmas, the New Year and beyond.
Hello All,
I can't believe another year has flown by and that Christmas is fast approaching again. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the posts this year sharing their thoughts & experiences which help support each & every one of us. Special praise as well to Millibob (Brian) for the brilliant work he does as the community champion.
Whether you are at the start of this initially scary journey, part way through or now post treatment & being monitored I would like to share one of the quotes from an amazingly funny film that is often overlooked, namely Galaxy Quest (if you haven't seen it yet & are a fan of such shows as Star Trek you really should) ''Never give up, Never surrender''!
Best Wishes & Merry Christmas
Brian
Thank you Brian for all the work you have put in through the year despite your setback. It's about 7½ years since I joined the forum during a very prolonged diagnosis process which took seven months from referral by my GP to the start of treatment (the intervention of the then Scottish Secretary for Health - Jeanne Freeman actually shortened the process!). Luckily my treatment seems to have been successful as my last PSA test in August came back as 0.3 and I am now on annual tests. Many of my early contributions seem to have gone AWOL when the forum was upgraded a couple of years ago, but I still lurk in the background although I don't post very much now.
So, A Very Merry Christmas from the amazingly mild Highlands of Scotland ... and ...
A guid new year to ane an' a'
An' mony may ye see,
An' during a' the years to come,
O happy may ye be.
An' may ye ne'er hae cause to mourn,
To sigh or shed a tear;
To ane an'a baith great an' sma'
A hearty guid New year.
Wow. Where did the last 10 months go. From my diagnosis march 27 it’s been one hell of a journey. Best wishes Brian ( especially Brian ) and others on the forum . I’m not sure how I’d have coped without this. In dark days , the words of advice, encouragement and positivity pulled me though. It’s been tough but after my op im in a pretty good place. Had good post path results so it’s going to be a good Xmas. Best wishes to all. Simon
