Anyone had a psa score around 135 when fist been diagnosed with prostate cancer ?
my dads has spread to his hip and 3rd vertebrae and he’s in the first stages of testing etc

he has his second psa bloods tomorrow

im Hoping we can start to move forward after this as he is really poorly !

  • The PSA number is a guide to how things are going but it’s not the most important test. The scans are more accurate and important, and the PSA helps but is not diagnostic. The samples from the prostate are the most diagnostic as they are able to detect the state of affairs directly.

The spread or mets (metastasis) are found in the scans and will be examined separately.

My original PSA was 90 in the beginning and at that time there was no other test done. It wasn’t until the biopsy was done that I got diagnosed properly.

    Does that help?

Waiting for more info is hard but is the only way, but if we can help you understand anything more just ask.

    Good luck

  • Hello

above is quite right with his post. The PSA number is only an indicator and the MRI and other scans along with a prostate biopsy lead to the full diagnosis. As you say dad's had a diagnosis and you know where it's spread are you able to help us with his scores - Gleason Score and TNM Score? (for example I am a Gleason 9 (5+4) T3aN0M0).

Once we have these we can give you more information. I can tell you I had a PSA of 182 on diagnosis but in my case I was lucky with no spread but we are all different.

To help us help you why not add a little about dad's journey to his profile. To do this on your home page click on the chair (top right) then "profile" then "edit". Once you have written something don't forget to save it. (you can read my profile by clicking on my user name or avatar).

    Best wishes - Brian.
