Hi everyone I was diagnosed in 2023 stage 4 metastatic.
Had chemo 5 sessions of Docetaxel but my brilliant oncologist wasn't to happy after a CT scan so started on Cabazitaxel 3 sessions done now and changed stomach injection from monthly to 3 monthly.
Any one had muck success with this regime? And how many Cabazitaxel sessions?
Thanks John
Hi J.G.J. , I was T3 when put onto Docetaxel but only managed 4 rounds (normally 6). That, HT and RT kept any further spread away for 5 years. I think Cabazitaxel is less toxic and usually administered in 10 rounds but that can be increased if the patient tolerates it well.
Best wishes, David

Thanks David why did you come off Docetaxel?
To be fair I may be wrong but I thought cabazitaxel was stronger?and forgive my ignorance bug what is HT and RT is that my stomach injection? Think I'm getting a break after 5 but how long is break before things could change?
Thanks John.
John, I came off Docetaxel after I got pneumonia and my immune system was off the scale. If you want the history just look at my profile (click on my name or avatar). I think Cabazitaxel is better tolerated (maybe stronger) than Docetaxel as generally max 6 doses of the latter.
Docetaxel has been around 15 years longer than Cabazitaxel and tends to be used as a first line defence but Cabazitaxel is reserved as the second line.
Sorry about the acronyms. HT is Hormone therapy, RT is radiotherapy and PCa is prostate cancer. There are several different forms of HT and RT but that covers the generic type.
Best wishes, David

Thanks David that's a very good synopsis.I too caught pneumonia after my 5th Docetaxel and had 3 days in hospital. Taking Oramorph and paracetamol for pain in pelvis. No more radiotherapy on this area because oncologist is worried on damaging nerves, so hope Cabazitaxel does its work.
Bone scan and CT scan planned for a few weeks time.
Thanks John.
Hi TrixieF25 , some HT treatments are administered with a slow release capsule injected into the subcutaneous fat layer in the stomach. Usually 1 or 3 monthly. If your OH has pain, report it to his team.
Best wishes, David

Hi TrixieF25
My OH has Prostap injections every 12weeks and take’s Abiraterone and prednisone every morning . This is his hormone therapy regime.
If your OH is in massive pain I would call his GP/ consultant as he should not be in pain . If he’s still in pain I would suggest you contact out of hours today as nobody needs to be or should be in pain .
Hugs to you both
Liz & OH xx
