since joining this forum I’ve been receiving emails alerting me to new posts and reactions. These alerts also provided a snippet of the post so I could judge whether the topic raised was something I could contribute towards . For some reason, these snippets are no longer accompanying the emails. They’ve gone AWOL. As I’m still working on, I don’t have the time or energy to read through every single post on this site ( well done, Brian, I know you do!). Is this due to something I have done or something MacMillan have altered? Can anyone help me?
Hi Worriedwife , if you hit your own name you should getting options to go to ‘profile’ or ‘settings’. The settings should indicate which emails and alerts you receive. I don’t understand what some of these mean (what does being subscribed too mean), so have ticked ‘yes’ to all! David
Hello Worriedwife
No it's nothing you have done - here's the official line:
"To bring us in line with the Online Safety Act, we have removed the content from the body of notification emails. The title will still be visible within the email notification. Once you click on the link within the email, the content will then be visible, allowing you to read or reply."
I hope this helps - It's keeping the site inline with legislation.
Kind Regards - Brian.

Hello Liz
We had an amazing 2 weeks in Turkey and are well rested. We fly back out to Turkey on Wednesday 16 July and return on Tuesday 19 August. We have a couple of days off then on Friday 22 August we drive up to Scotland (we have the Tattoo on 23 August) for a week. It's hard being semi-retired!!
Hope to see you that week we are in Scotland.
Kind regards - Brian.

Thanks, Brian. I understand the PC ( political correctness ! ) in this change but it is somewhat irksome.
I will try to keep up! At least I know it’s not my technological ineptitude !
Thanks for explaining that, Millibob.
Thank you for posting about your experience Worriedwife. I'm sorry the change caused some confusion and has made it not possible to see what has be written without going onto the site.
We understand that some members found the preview in the email notifications helpful. However, our priority is to make sure the Community remains a safe space for everyone. We also have a responsibility to follow government guidance under the new Online Safety Act, and this has meant making some changes to how the site works, including email notifications.
If you have any questions or other concerns please feel free to email us on community@macmillan.org.uk.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, Dylan. I was concerned I had done something technologically stupid my end ( not for the first time!) I do prefer the ‘old way’ as it was easier to keep up but people’s wellbeing and safety has to be the priority - especially at one of the most vulnerable times in life.
can I go a bit further and extend my thanks to you and all the staff for facilitating this website? When my husband got his diagnosis I think I would have ‘gone under’ without the friendship, support and information ( and, yes, even laughter!) I received here. You are doing a great job!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
