Diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer in June 2025, hormone treatment, chemotherapy followed up by radiotherapy. Cancer initially spread to surface of the bones and identified in one lymph node. Initially PSA levels drifted higher but not fast enough to worry about , now seemed to be moving faster than I would like 7 to 12 in 3 months however consultant more interested in testosterone level current 2.6 which he would like below 1. Scans showed that spots on bones had all but disappeared and lymph node clear. Anyway I am having an operation to remove both testicles which should bring both testosterone and PSA levels down. My question is has anyone had this operation and give guidance on the outcome.
thanks
John
I would imagine that they are saying that they will not remove testicles just to avoid HT which may very well work without this intervention. However if the Testosterone is still rising despite other treatments then this would be recommended.
