Strange feeling after urination

I had a successful RALP just before Christmas. There was very minor incontinence where I have only needed to wear precautionary pads on 3 early occasions (sport and a party). Everything in that department seems to have sorted itself out well. I do however have an odd sensation after passing urine. I can only equate this to the feeling after emptying a really full bladder, although my bladder is not always full with I use the bathroom. This is not a particularly uncomfortable feeling and it lasts for only 1 or 2 seconds but I wonder if there is a cause of this or if anyone else experiences something similar?

  • Hello

I have just noticed you haven't had a reply to your post. Apart from suggesting you contact your surgical team I can't answer the question myself.

By me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the group and I hope noticed by someone who may have had the same issue and has an answer.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  ,

I have experienced similar, but only if I go for a “precautionary” wee. If I feel my bladder is full and go then, everything feels fine. If I nip to the loo just in case and do a small one without specifically needing to (e.g. about to go on a longish journey and want to be on the safe side), the small amount doesn’t seem to trigger whatever nerves/muscles are involved with the information that my bladder is empty, and I feel I should still be going, but there is nothing left (not sure if that makes sense?).

As you mentioned, it’s only a feeling for a few seconds and isn’t uncomfortable, just odd.

I haven’t investigated further, as I just took it as being the new norm after the surgery.

    Not sure if that helped?

Wishing you all the best with your continued recovery!

  • Thanks for the reply. I think the 'new normal' is the way forward. The sensation is strange and feels although it's from the the bladder, I don't seem to have any other issues. I totally relate to the feeling that your bladder is full but it isn't, this seems to go away if I try and forget about it.
