I have a cancer care review next week but my NHS app calls it a

QOF Review F2F appointment.

Does anyone know what the QOF stands for?

I’m interested not worried but a search online leads me to a Quality and outcomes framework in an industrial setting. Surely that’s not it.

Any thoughts?

  • Hi Mr U, QOF started just before I  entered healthcare in 2006, and it was  never really popular with front line workers as it was beaurocracy led, many believed it became target driven, and not  patient focused. It did bring about better registering and recording, bringing it into the digital age, but the belief the patients needs were never at the forefront persisted. I believe they reviewed it just before I retired in 2020, to address these concerns, putting the patient first. To be honest I've not heard anything about it since.

  • Interesting, that sounds like an old fashioned term then. What do the letters QOF mean? Quality of (F)?

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Hi  , I think it is Quality and Outcomes Framework.  An article by NHS England explains (try a Google search NHS PRN01104).  My, how the NHS love acronyms!

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Hi Mr U, David's  spot on.
