Radiotherapy - Shingles vaccination

Hi Cuthbert , until you asked the question I hadn’t even considered if the two are incompatible.  Definitely medical advice required from an expert on this one.  Let us know the decision.

That's a great point I have my last treatment on Friday and have been called in for a flu and COVID jab better check it's ok to have them 

My OH was called to get his shingles vaccine 7 weeks ago . We spoke to the Oncologist who said yes take it as long as it’s  NOT a live vaccine .  So any vaccine it’s worth asking your consultant or cancer nurse before hand 

I have been informed by Urology a shingles vaccination is fine at this stage following radiotherapy. They did ask me if I was on any auto immunity suppressant treatment.  Hope this helps. I will be booking a vaccination next week.

my OH had quite a bad reaction to his 2nd vaccine  and it floored him for three days . Just a little heads up incase you have plans .

See the Urology reply to my enquiry. I will now go forward with the shingles vaccination. I certainly don't want another bout. My last was very very painful.  All good wishes.

I was told by my GP practice that I couldn’t have the shingles vaccine until after a year of having shingles
