Hello,

I wondered if anyone could help as I am very confused with my dad's diagnosis.  He says he has locally advanced prostate cancer stage 4 a and b.  I don't understand the a and b, shouldn't it be one or the other and if it is locally advanced surely it can't be b?

Is advanced stage 4b?

I would also like to ask if anyone is aware you can ask for braccythetapy as a boost for this stage.

Any help very gratefully received.

  • Yes I've been reading it seems to be the best treatment.  I'm going to pursue this.  Thanks so much for help.

  • Yes has to be a good thing hope you make some progress Luv to you both.

  • Hi

My understanding is that stage 4 Prostate Cancer is an advanced-stage prostate cancer that has spread (metastasized) to distant sites or to the lymph nodes. It's further divided into two substages, listed below.

    • Stage 4A: The cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes but may or may not have spread to nearby tissues.
    • Stage 4B: The cancer has spread to another area of the body, such as the bones or distant lymph nodes.

    Hope this helps

    All of the best.
