Hi fellow advanced cancer guys
I am stage 4 gleason nine and had tattoos and scan 31 october
Radiotherapy starting 27th november
Talking with consultant on 31st October he said they would be looking to zap prostrate and surrounding lymph nodes plus bone met in right pelvic area
The consultant said that there is no evidence zapping bone met with prostate gets a man on treatable path back to curable path ,anyone have any different view to this
Also I am starting RT tommorow at 1 45 pm ,what is the plan as regards eating before hand .normally have breakfast and peraphs something light before 1 pm ,should I differ from this ?
Hi !
It seems from your profile you have only one (or at least very few) met(s) and oligometastatic prostate cancer nowadays is perhaps not treated with curative intent but close enough and it seems like they are going all in on the treatment with a lot of radiation that will kick the cancer ’beast’ to a long remission at least and future will tell. But sounds good with the treatment
Well, I suppose they’ve told you that you should have empty gut before radiation and perhaps even have some medication to secure empty gut. So think light when talking about food and better to focus on drinking water.
Best - wishes Ulf
Hi !!
No, I didn’t but I had my radiation a little earlier and then I normally have my ’normal morning stool’ fixing most of it and then during the first fractions I used gentle laxative but after some fractions, and I was recommended to add more fibers (Visiblin) to my eating it seemed to empty me in time for radiation
Best wishes - Ulf
Hello Mal CG
The general idea about eating and drinking during RT is nothing that will give you "wind" or make you move whilst on the "sunbed".
Things to avoid are, coffee, fizzy drinks, alcohol, pulses, beans, green leaf vegetables and anything spicy.
I hope this helps - let us know how it goes.
Best wishes - Brian.
