Travel insurance query

Hi.

Today at about 9.30 a.m. I finished my month long course of radiotherapy.

I still have to have PSA tests to find out whether the treatment has been effective of not but I am optimistic. At the very start of this episode I was told that my tumour was very small, caught early and in a position that made it easy to treat. As a result, I felt optimistic enough to book next year's Summer holiday and to plant loads of Spring bulbs.

But here's my point.

Last year, I had to tell my travel insurance company of my diagnosis.

What should I do for next year? Are they likely to add on a huge charge even though I've been treated?

Is there a travel insurance company that specialises in people like myself?

Phil

  • I am currently struggling to get travel insurance for my father-in-law who is at a different stage to yourself... but I spoke to InsureCancer (01252780190) who couldn't help ONLY because his trip length was over 30 days.
A very nice lady who I would call again if the dates change.  Can't hurt to ask?

  • When I travelled before radiotherapy the insurance was very expensive as I had a pending procedure (I.e RT). After RT, I had to tell them I'm still in treatment (Hormone therapy), but the price was significantly lower.

Both times I've insured with the post office.

  • Thanks for that... they aren't even in my list!

  • Just tried - but no.
He's 88 and wants to visit his son in the US for 5 weeks.
Over 75 and over 30 days seems to be a brick wall.

  • Interesting. We're only going away for a fortnight. Thanks.

  • Hello Phil (

The answer is yes and you may well find that here on this forum - linky thingy here:

Travel insurance forum for cancer patients

I spend 3/4 months a year outside the UK and as my property is in the Asian side of Turkey (I am there now - a chilly 15c at 9.15pm Sunglasses) I need worldwide travel insurance. Mrs Millibob has issues too (medical I should add) and our joint annual policy costs about £ 780 with insurancewith,

All the insurance companies use the same algorhythms to give you an online quote so we find it easier to telephone and then you know you have given them all your details.

I do hope this helps and you get sorted.

    Best wishes - Brian.
