Hi all
Im new here and I’ve been dealing with prostate cancer for about 4 years. I had radiation after the surgery and I occasionally pee blood. Sometimes it is heavy and clotted. I’ve had a bladder biopsy and it was clear but I am just trying to see if anyone else has this same issue. It’s not all the time but very bad this weekend. My urologist says it is common after radiation. Any one?
A very warm welcome Finn finn.
I can't help you from personal experience but I have attached a link for more information, although it sounds as if you have already covered many of the bases. I hope others come along with more insight.
The only suggestion I can make is make sure that you try a kidney friendly diet to reduce irritants and also keep a diary of what you eat and drink and see if anything is triggering the bleeding.
Also I presume you have been checked for a urine infection.
Please come back with any questions.
How long ago did you have your radiotherapy treatment? I did have this in the first few months after my radiotherapy - though not clots bust urine tinged with blood. Like you I had a scan and examination to see what it was and nothing found and it eventually cleared up. I would say it had definitely cleared within the first 6 months post radiotherapy. Drink plenty of water and keep a close watch on the situation and continue to remind your urologist that this is happening and certainly if there are any changes contact your GP and urologist.
Do you notice if anything you eat or drink has an effect on it? I only ask because most of us I know tend to drink some alcohol or drink and eat different things over the weekend or at different times and this may be causing some upset?
Hope things clear up for you and you have no further problems.
Hi Finn finn and welcome, I had a bout of frank haematuria, urine/blood pale almost pink in colour lots of clots and lasted 3 or 4 days occasionally slightly blocking the urethra and flow of urine, though i did spend a few hours in hospital in case of blockage, no treatment was needed, take care,
Eddie

Hi Eddie.
If you want a bit more info on it then happy reading. Still very much in the evaluation stage but good that trials are ongoing.
Thank Alwayshope one day i wll catch up maybe even surprise you. I know too late for me, but for others that follow a little more hope,
Eddie
It may be a little while before this is fully evaluated as the work with prostate cancer has only been done in the laboratory. The gold standard will be when they develop a vaccine to stop you getting cancer in the first place.
That will be a wonderful day. not a research article but uplifting. guardian newspaper article, 30 people who really started living when they found they were dying,
