Getting so stressed supposed to have bloods done for 3 month surveillance due 1st aug my cancer saying I’ve had them 3 phone calls later after arguing with them 3 weeks later saying yes they’ve not been done eventually got them on the 12th now being told 3 was for results why can’t they put them on my nhs app as soon as they know hospital who done bloods said be back in 4 days when we phone up feel guilty asking never get through voicemail
You are rightly stressed and this can happen every time. Self advocacy is the most frustrating part of the process with patience and mental health all in second place probably. You can only do you best and if you have contact details of the cancer team then use any method possible.
Phone, email or text will eventually pay dividends but it sounds like you are up against a brick wall. So knock it down. Don’t get angry, I like to think I’ve learned a lot in the 3 years of dreadful communication from every department and agency but I’ve now cracked it. I use my guile now and ask as politely as I was talking to HRH the Queen and my hit rate has improved. I learned to improve my answerphone messages (by keeping them short and sweet) so they have to ring back this lovely man that wouldn’t kill a fly. Also use the right route and don’t do what I used to and ask three agencies all at the same time to do the same thing - they don’t work together, it’s just never going to work.
As for you NHS app, I would say that mine is divine, but yours is clearly not. But I do find that the PSA will never be put up in the App until 6 weeks have gone by as normal. I presume that’s so you don’t panic on your own but get it verbally passed to you by a clinician. I hope that helps.
It’s not ever easy to get any peace with all the stress we all suffer, that’s why we can blow off steam here. So BLOW OFF Admiral and give yourself a pat on the back for asking questions to friends that will listen and try to help. I hope something I’ve said helps, but we are all struggling along like you. Stay strong and chin up.
