RT stuff . Couple of niggly questions I cant find answers for ..

Hi whatsisname.

You should typically have about 2 -2½ litres of water a day to keep you hydrated, milk, tea, coffee and squash all count but you should only have one smoothie a day.

As for hot flushes.... I haven't noticed an actual "trigger", they just happen, I've got used to taking t-shirt off, putting t-shirt on routine.

Yes, arms, and I get like a fuzzy head feeling.

Smoothies are .... well., I tried a few, not a fan.

So does anyone know about how long after RT do we start to see results of how we have done?

The RT works right away and continues to work after your last fraction

Its only 3 - 6 months after your last fraction, once your immune system has got back to normal will you have a further PSA test and meeting to consider the results.

Hello Whatsisname, my husband had a PSA of 10 which led to further investigations. He was started on hormone therapy in November 2022 and by January 2023 his PSA was 0.29. He had his radiotherapy in feb, finishing 4 th March. Latest PSA 0.06. Hth

Sorry, that's me being technical - each session of RT is a fraction so if you have 20 sessions it's 20 fractions.

Yes, you are correct, once RT is completed, you are in the dark for a few months, however, take my case, I completed my RT on 2 February this year, for a couple of weeks I was suffering from fatigue, but as the months have passed I have felt better and better each day, I now feel amazing.

My PSA pre RT was 1.37 - kept at bay by the hormone treatment. My review by the oncology department is not until mid August however yesterday my GP gave me a routine PSA test and yab-a dab a do it's down to 0.576 so the RT has worked. Happy days.

Hi whatsisname, I finished my RT on 21 March and had to wait 6 weeks for first post consultation and was given the good news that the RT had done the job. Now I have to wait 6 months before next PSA test. (Pre treatment PSA was 14 down to 0.73 with HT and after RT down to 0.28)
