This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic.  It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.

It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.

I could have named it 'Waffle'.  Then I couldn't go off topic.

  • Hi Gina - I spent yonks ringing people, filling out forms, and as soon as cancer was mentioned  - no. In the end I gave our local broker mine and Mrs Millibob's medical details and he's arranged it with All Clear. We had to go worldwide as we are off to Turkey and it's not in Europe for some companies - I hope this helps.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Never heard of this one - will take a look. I’ve been told there is a nearby Morrisons where you can park for 2 hours. I can drop him off at hospital and go there to park and he can ring me when he needs picking up.

  • I seem to remember a long time ago parking in the Leicester Tigers carpark, but not sure if you can anymore.

  • I think I tried them before but that was before pc. As he has atrial fibrillation too and so many hospital visits you have to declare, not sure even a day trip to Calais would be affordable.  Thanks anyway.

  • I bet it was one that was very happy!  Nearly £1500

A lot of money, but if you are planning to spend a lot of time in Turkey, I suppose...

  • Brian, that is worth looking into, but we are not planning to travel abroad in the not too distant future.

Think we will concentrate on the UK.

We used to go abroad 3or 4 times a year, but since our friend COVID, and health problems...

Hopefully still planning to retire abroad (or is it just a pipedream).  And I don't even smoke!

  • Steve, Seven or eight years ago we had Mr's Millibob's dad living with us, he had many issues. We had a short respite break in Turkey, 7 days as I recall, and being young 60 and foolish (since birth) we saw a villa for sale at what was an amazingly low price. Mrs M said "that's nice, why don't you buy it? so I did. We've never looked back. We still get to many other holidays but just love our pad in Turkey - we won't retire there because of the kids/grandkid but pre covid and PC we managed 12/15 weeks a year!! SunglassesSunglassesSunglasses

  • Lucky you, great to have somewhere to escape to that is all yours. Do you rent it out or just keep for yourselves and family?

  • The reason it was cheap was it was an ex rental and needed some TLC to bring it up to scratch. We have 4 "grown up" children so we use it with them and our friends. Quite a few people we know have done rentals but people have no respect when they are on holiday and just don't behave. If we are out there we don't mind other people visiting as we have a few spare bedrooms - that's almost an invitation. Innocent. We have a bit of a policy that if we are out there and someone needs the break we have the room - it's a bit of an open house. Brian.
