This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic.  It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.

It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.

I could have named it 'Waffle'.  Then I couldn't go off topic.

  • Sorry WW,

I thought you didn't get the times you wanted.  Hope all your journeys go smoothly.

  • Morning WW - Just a thought, I don't know Leicester very well but Mrs Millibob has a neurology issue with which we have to visit Salford Royal Hospital. Parking there is almost impossible and spaces are as rare as hen's teeth. However for football and Salford Royal we use an app (or weeby site) called either Your Parking Space or Just Park .On there for a small fee you can reserve someone's drive/parking slot for a set day/time for a minimum fee. We use a drive way 5 minuets from Salford Royal for £ 3.50 for 4 hours.

You don't have to worry about finding a space when you get there and you know how long you have. I hope this helps.

    Brian.

  • It is a long while since I have been to the Leicester Royal. I took my daughter last time, if I remember and we spent ages just trying to find our way into the carpark. I think all has changed now but not necessarily better, but I always try and ask for Peterborough hospital as it is much easier for parking and if we are lucky, get a space in the limited disabled parking as R has a blue badge. Glad your daughter is helping.

  • Just seen your post to me in the other discussion but thought it would be polite to reply here.

the hospital phoned today, the start of the radiotherapy has been postponed by one day due to machine needing repairs. Doesn’t sound much but for some  some stupid reason it really affected us as we were well and truly psyched up.

stupidly, somebody was kind to me at the end of a meeting this morning (when most had left)   about our situation and that started the tears and I can’t seem to stop . The kinder they were the more I cried!

  • It will get better as you progress with the treatment. Hope you get some sleep and tomorrow is another day.

  • Thanks Gina. I hope all is well over there?

  • WW,

Sorry to hear about this.  It takes a lot of strength to start this treatment.  I can totally understand your reaction as you would have both been psyched up for the first session.

Yes, breakdowns occur.  One good thing is that it didn't happen when your husband was in there.

I had delays, sometimes up to an hour, that didn't help, especially when enemas have been taken.

When this treatment is finished you will look back and think it was all worth it.

    Hope everything goes smoothly now.

  • WW,

I forgot to say, in a few days time you will be sitting there with your husband in the hospital, talking to other couples.  You will say "You'll never guess what happened on the first day for us?"

The camaraderie there's great, you get to hear all is new stories about others PC journeys.

On my first day, my enema was a dud.  I was waiting and waiting and waiting... Ended up going in full of ****.  I was able to take the enemas at the hospital, luckily.  Or I would have still been on the loo at home.

  • Wow - That's weird, my first session was postponed by a day due to the machine being broken. We do have 2 at Oldham but the second one is having it's RT MOT or something and is out of action.

Yes I worried about the first session but I checked in, they checked on what time I had my enema and then a nice radiographer took me to a side room. told me hove it works (The RT) tod me how they work at Oldham and next news I was lying on the sunbed!

I just breeze in now, check in as if I am at the airport, sit down in the lounge and before you know it my conversation is ruined by my name being called!! Day 15 today!

I know what you mean about the tears - anyone doing things for me and I well up - the worst one to date was the other Sunday sat in the pub with my mates (drinking J2O) in Coffin Dodgers Corner when someone offered help out of the blue - and I had no tissues - a 67 year old bloke in floods of tears in a busy pub gets you noticed!!

You will soon be on your way and it will pass very quickly, mine appears to have - it appears that day one was only a couple of days ago!1

  • We had a  breakdown and one machine had to have maintenance during my 4 weeks and had to go to another machine so had to wait a while as that machine was serving it's own patients and the ones moved over from ours.  It can be upsetting - especially when it happens on your first day.  Hope everything goes well from now on.
