I must admit that poor old Bill Turnbill losing his battle, made me think hard about life expectancy.
So I wondered if there were any good news stories from Stage 4 sufferers? I'm not talking about Enzalutamide patients who are doing well with trace PSA results but actually patients who have really been though the mill in terms of chemo, radiotherapy and the rest and have come out the other side, defying expectations.
As I approach a critical meeting with my Oncologist I'd welcome any stories, as I expect might other Stage 4 patients.
Many thanks in advance.
Hi Sussex20
no good news as yet for my hubby, he finishes chemo just before Xmas, hopefully good news when we get scan results a few weeks later, but we definitely would love to hear some good news stories as well. on a positive note he is handling chemo ok once the first 7 days after the round has passed and feels reduced pain around his pelvis
kind regards to you and hope your oncology appointments goes well
Hi
Well I’m still here, coming up to six and a half years, my PSA might be going up around eleven, bits of assorted pains, good days bad days, but still being positive. So Christmas coming, my favourite time of year ( really big kid ) let’s support everyone and get more years on the clock.
Stay safe
Joe
Absolutely agree. Joe's story is an example of how to fight adversity. I shall report the results of my oncologist appointment next week. Good news from Jnc's husband too. I have my 8th cycle next week. Apart from the rashes brought on by Filgastrim it chemo hasn't been too bad.
Hi Sussex 20
I was diagnosed stage 4 M1,N1 41/2 years ago, following chemotherapy & radiotherapy all known cancer sites had been successfully treated and I remained in remission until recently when my last 2 bloods have shown small rises in my PSA .3 & .5. I remain positive no matter what the future holds. Your in good hands with the NHS
Hi Sussex
Have a look at HealthUnlocked.com
You will find more positive outcomes on there with stage 4, than on this site, judging by the answers you have received so far here.
Log in and have a look in “advanced prostate cancer”
1 year in with hubby, stage 4, Gleason 8 psa 600. Mets to back pelvis, shoulder and lymph nodes. Currently in hospital on morphine and ketermine drip, have been for 2 weeks to control back pain. Hoping for radiotherapy as soon as possible for Mets in back causing pain. Let me know how you get on with HealthUnlocked. Ginny
