Oh goodness poor you and what a sorry state the business is in. You seriously need to take care. Just because you are in remission, it will take some time I am sure to regain your health fully. Good of you to volunteer, but don't do it at the cost of your health.
Glad your ears are being unbunged! It is horrible when you can't hear properly. I was scuba diving a few years back and to trauma to my ear and was quite deaf for about 4 months. It is horrid cos you can't always hear when people call you names .

Hi Steve, I think you are going through a rough patch right now. The thins to hang on to are: we will soon be past the shortest day and the days will be getting longer; once we’re over Christmas festivities it’s but a short step until Spring; we can’t do anything about the weather, the war, the politics; we can’t undo the past and the future is mere conjecture so don’t waste energy thinking about either past or future! The things to concentrate on : the here and now; your well being; your loved ones; and what you can get pleasure from today! I have suffered badly with depression in the past and still have my black dog and hyper anxiety days. I therefore dwell on the mantra ‘this too shall pass’ and, like you, writing and diary keeping!!! This time of the year is very difficult for many People - you are not alone!
so, keep fighting and know that there are many people, myself included, who have really valued your input on this website!

Hi WW, such wise words, I've been there, counciling really helped, unlike Steve I don't keep a diary, when I start to feel down I do what the councilor said, make a list of what's going wrong and a list of what's good in my life keep adding until the bad things are out numbered by the good things and keep rereading the good things list, not perfect but helps, and of course talk to my wife.
Wow! Thanks so much for that.
In the past I have never been affected this bad. I know that it will pass.
It's nice to hear from you, hope things are going well with your husband.

Wise words from Worried Wife.
In reply to your last to me Steve, well I can report that the house is still standing no thanks to Richard!!!
I went to lunch with a friend on Thursday and when I got back, the house stank of burning and gas. I asked what on earth had happened and he explained that he had tried to cook fish and chips and things went wrong. We have a double oven range and he always has to ask how to turn the ovens on. I suppose it is understandable as we have only had it about 15 years!!! He had thought the Youngs fish and chips he bought was microwavable, as if. When he realised it was for the oven, he turned the multi function switch to what he thought was oven but was actually grill and walked away and left if for 20 mins. He went back to a kitchen full of smoke and found, unsurprisingly, a burned lunch.
That accounted for the smell of burning, but not the gas until I realised he had turned the burner on but it wasn't lit and had been spewing out gas for about three hours!! Thank goodness the doors were open so it had permeated the whole house and not built up enough to explode when a light was switched on. He has been banned from any kitchen equipment from now on, apart from the kettle and the microwave which surprisingly do not explode on contact with testosterone. Oh, hang on, that joke doesn't work when referring to a man on hormone treatment .
Hope you are feeling a bit brighter and looking forward to your Christmas break. Are you working and are you having roast beef or turkey??!!
Gina
Oh, forgot to respond to your other question. Yes he is back on Budesonide. He had three weeks on 9mg and now down to 6mg to see if that can hold off the colitis. If someone can be on it for two years, what dose would that be then? His doctor is still waiting for advice from the consultant so it his he and I who are deciding on the dosage. Between us, we thought that we would put him on the lower dose for a few weeks to see how he responds, until advice from the expert!!
Why will you be on it?
G
Well my Christmas break is next Wednesday, then just the bank holidays.
I might be having Beef (if work ever gives us our free joints (used to be a week's wages, now it's a joint of beef, how times have changed).
You could make a film at home with all that of the goings on there!
At least nobody has been hurt!
Steve (SteveCam)
Thanks, Steve. My husband is doing ok- ish. Some side effects of the ht manifesting now :(
Sorry to hear about the low mood. It’s a horrible feeling like that.
what work do you do?
WW,
I work in an Abattoir of all places. Do all admin work (all the cows have their own passports and I enter all the data in the system).
Love what I do, interacting with the farmers, it's very interesting.
Steve (SteveCam)
How interesting! There was an article on radio 4 (or was it tv?) about abattoirs this last week. I was half asleep but I recall they were talking about large and small abattoirs. I guess you are busy this next week with everybody thinking of their Christmas dinner!
