Loo visits at night

I have PC (gleason score 9) but contained within the prostate. Despite using decaff tea and coffee and not drinking anything after 8pm each night, (I'm teetotaI by the way) I still have to pee 3 or 4 times a night. It's alaways clear, but such a lot each time! Anyone got any suggestions or similar symptoms please?

  • No I'm not on medication atm, that will be a last resort! Fingers crossed no drinks after 6-30pm will improve things, I'll see how it goes.

  • Got to say generally the medication works well with few - if any side effects except a good night's sleep.

  • Ooh, tell me more! is it something I can buy over the counter or is it by prescription only? And are there any nasty side effects?

  • Ulls,

    How true that is.

It's my own fault at times, at Maggie's you get a huge mug, normally Tea.

  • Bas,

I had a cut off at 6pm when on my Radiation month, but after that it got later and later.

I average 2 now.  The occasional 5 times if I am stupid

  • No you need a prescription and I am surprised that either your urologist or your GP has not done this already.  I am on Vesomni and have been on various others during the time I have had either bladder or prostate problems  - so a couple of decades at least now.  Vesomni, I believe is one of  the newest of these medications and works really well for me and has cut down nocturnal visits to the loo from frequently 6 times a night to at most 3 times a night - and sometimes I don't get up at all.  I still stop drinking at 6 pm but this never worked on its own.  At one time my urologist had me keep a liquids in and out diary and It seemed my liquids out were far more than my liquids in! Slight smile  I have not had any side effects from any of this type of medication apart from one quite strong one the urologist prescribed me where I had to have a blood test every 6 months - so long ago I can't remember what the blood test was watching for - whatever it was it didn't affect me.  My urologist has changed my medication every time a new medication becomes available so I'm lucky to have such a pro-active urologist - of course, not seen him for nearly 3 years now and wonder will I see him when I have my PSA test this year.  Actually wonder if it will be the same urologist by that time.  Wondering will I ever get to see a medical practitioner in the flesh for a routine appointment again!  All of them love the telephone consultations whereas I don't particularly.

  • Apart from avoiding alcohol, fatty foods seem to make me get up more during the night. Foods rich in iron seems to help and fresh vegetables are a must. I think it is very much down to experimentation. Enjoy what you enjoy and avoid things that appear to make it worse.

  • Hi Stevecam, I'm very happy to read you are in remission, long may it last, your result has brightened my day.

    All the best Ulls

  • Hi Sussex20 No alcohol at all I applaud your determination, I have a wee dram on Fridays and once a fortnight 3 pints in my local with friends, what a plonky I am.

    All the best Ulls

  • Ulls,

    Thanks for that.

If the Cancer does reappear I'm in a better state now to tackle it.

Seeing the Oncologist in August, hoping things are good ok.

Anyway, how are things going with you?
