Is anyone on here taking medication for excessive Hot Flushes which I am suffering from? I'm sure my Oncologist told me when I saw hm for the first time that there was a drug that you can take if it gets too bad which mine is certainly going that way.

Any advice would be much apprecited

  • Hello

6 months into Hormone Therapy I was having serious hot flushes - those you need to change your clothes with! Someone suggested Sage Tablets - they work for me - two weeks on them and the hot flushes stopped. I am still on Sage Tablets - still no hot flushes. I use Menoforce, they are a tad expensive, but they work for me.

The prescription medication is medroxyprogesterone. Details in this link:

    Medroxyprosterone-acetate

    I hope you get sorted.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Brian,

Thank you for the advice once again, I've already been to Holland and Barrett and purchased some. I'll let you know how I get on. Kind regards Lee

  • Hi, newtoallthis, my oh was also prone to very often hot flushes, usually worse before an implant was due((zoladex), he also tried manapause tablets but unfortunately didn’t work for him. As Millibob says it is good for some but not others.  We were advised by our oncologist,( i say ours cos it’s teamwork) to try Cyproterone 50mg.  I can honestly say it worked, mention it to GP because it is a game changer. Totally a massive help. Good luck.

  • Thank you for the input hopefully the herb option will work for me but I will definitely be asking my Dr for something else if they don't. I've only just stared to taking the so I will give them a month and see if they work.
