Hi does anyone know, or have any idea of a holiday insurance that covers stage 4 metetastic prostate can and blood Los in lungs and leg plus bad blood pressure problems. My husband is soo desperate for a holiday in minorca in June. (I don't have the heart to worry him about what state health wise he might be in by then) but his dream is to get out there and see all our friends. BUT I'm sick to death of spending hours on the phone unsuccessful, going through all the questions then they say no we won't cover him. Does anyone know of any holiday insurance companies that will. Thanku I would be so happy and relieved to be able to say u can go as you can get cover xxx

I far from know holiday insurance companies. But the amount of calls I've made this last month. But What seems to be causing the problem is because his got the cancer and the extensive binary pulmonary embolism. (both lungs) and the DVT in his leg. And bad blood pressure. It seems they do cover all them if you have one of those conditions but I carnt find one that covers them all eeekkk.

  • Its an absolute nightmare.  My sister has had part of her bowel removed and has what they call a "J" pouch.  She finds it very hard to get insurance and has gone to Spain for a week (pre-brexit) without insurance for that condition so that effectively means that if anything had happened as a consequence of the "J" pouch she would not be covered but the chance of anything going wrong while she was away was so unlikely she decided she would have to take a chance.  So far she has never been ill while away.  To be honest I would not like to take that route and have been lucky that I can purchase annual travel insurance from my bank account mentioning all my various illnesses and paying a little extra.  As we usually travel to either South Africa to stay with my brother of Florida to see my son and grandchildren every year and then take other holidays in between either in this country or Europe the annual insurance has been worth it - well apart from the last 2 years when we haven't been able to go anywhere!

I wish you well with your search for affordable insurance for all illnesses.

  • Just a thought, don't forget to get your Global Health Insurance Card.

It replaced the old EHIC card. It does offer some protection in some countries (including the EU), and it's free.

Find it on Google, but beware, there's a lot of scam sites about. Be sure you are on a .gov.uk site, do not give credit card details under any circumstances. The real site won't ask for them.

    Heinous

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.

  • I had forgotten about that Heinous.  I will get that.

  • Hi Paul That sounds interesting. I have a similar diagnosis. Who did you manage to get insurance with? And did you actually mean £55?  Thanks

  • Yes Sussex, £55 for 6 nights for the 4 of us.I was made up after being quoted hundreds of pounds last year. My wife got it with a firm called "insurance with" who specialise for people with diagnosis like us after being told by our macmillian team that they were back offering policies again after stopping for a while because of covid.

    Regards

    Paul
