I had RP 11 weeks ago and feel fortunate having made a good recovery so far. I’ve always been a keen cyclist but haven’t yet got back on my bike. I’d be grateful to hear of anyone’s experience of returning to cycling after RP. Is it too soon for me to try?
My only problem now as far as I know is ED, which I know it can take many months (if ever) to overcome. I have heard that cycling can slow or prevent the healing of erectile nerves, because of pressure from the saddle. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks
Hi BertieBB
That's good to read that you've made a good recovery but it's natural to have questions.
I'm sorry that I can't answer your questions but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Replying to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted.
If you don't get any replies from the other members of this group you could speak to one of the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line. It's free to call them on 0808 808 000 and they're available daily from 8am to 8pm.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you. or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi I am 60 years old and very fit i have been a runner for 40 years or more and the last 10 years i have added cycling in between to give my legs a rest i had my op a years ago almost to the day- all went well and its made little difference to my life - the doctor was able to spare both nerves i also have a regular prescription for Cialis
After 10 weeks i was back running after 12 weeks i was cycling down to work (3 miles away ) with no pain - i bought ISM saddles with the cut out so no pain and no problem with ED
I used the cycling in a training mode so i am working on and off the saddle which i feel is important after 16 weeks i started to up my mileage on a few weekend outings
so to cap no problem best of luck
