I have Gleason7 (3+4) PC and am due to start 20 Radiation treatments on 5th October. I am thinking of taking 1/2 day holidays from work to cover these. I am hoping that the side effects will be minimal. Work is like therapy to me and I want to keep working as much as possible.
By the time of my first Radiation treatment, that will be my 31st medical appointment this year. It's not just the Cancer, I have a load of other pre-existing conditions.
In myself I feel fine physically, but mentally is another thing. The hormones have taken over.
It is the money situation I am more concerned about rather than my health. Sick pay is a no-no, just the £90 odd quid for SSP.
I have tried applying for benefits, but "I am working and have my own property" and am ineligible for just about everything. PIP is a joke, by the time I get a decision...
It depends what kind of Yoga you do I just alternated from down ward dog into cobra to stretch and move the wind.
I had only done it once before as i would rather jogging and a good workout at the gym for exercise but this is what they suggested to move the wind and it worked within a very short space of time.
Hi Ulls,
Can't wait for the tattoos (remember Borstal spots), suppose they are the same but different. I know that it doesn't make sense. I blame the Hormones.
Sounds like RT has worked well for you. Hope it will for me.
The Oncologist at the Freeman Hospital is positive.

Hi Steve, I had all afternoon appointments and although most were OK some were delayed due to machine breakdown or emergency use and this could be up to an hour so your best bet I think would be afternoon. I'm retired but could easily have worked mornings.
Good luck with your treatment. Regards Reg
Yes. Last one was on Aug 21st. But the GP managed to get confused over that and the nurse said next and last, one was November. I knew they had a letter stating finish would be about September but probably had not been looked at, and they would need to contact the hospital. I contacted the Macmillan Nurse who confirmed I had indeed had my last one but she had not been contacted by the GP and then said how frustrating she found it trying to contact my GP being on hold on the phone for 30 mins. The GP's have always been excellent bu have always found admin totally incompetent. Still now once again it's wait and see how successful the treatment has been. The RT was OK for me with very few side effects just a good excuse to lay down for a short time in the afternoon. At the planning session I was given a list of times for all my 20 appointments. It's like quite a lot of things a lot easier than you expect.
Good luck. regards Reg
