So, I am almost 12 weeks post operation to remove my prostate. Right from the start I have had pain and problems with my left leg.

pain is in upper inner thigh toward the groin. It affects my walking and moving and I’m obviously compensating with my right leg as right hip is painful now.

my surgery was long and complicated and the position you are put in during surgery with legs strapped apart has caused damage to my leg but I’m not sure what.

cant seem to get any help and was told to wait to see for an improvement. 3 months on it’s the same.

I do now have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in end November to see what they can do but it’s a hell of a wait.

anyone else had similar problems??

  • Hi Scamper, sorry to hear about your situation

I haven't heard of this before

I wonder why  u r going to see a plastic surgeon, has this been recommended by your specialist/surgeon?

In the meantime r u able to do some light exercise, ie jogging to help build up the muscles. Have u tried some physiotherapy.

    Regards

    Steve

  • Could it be nerve pain from the operation? Lots of areas are moved and disturbed during the surgery. I had groin pain for a few weeks after surgery and was told it was neuropathic pain.
I was prescribed Gabapentin for that.

It disappeared after a month or so.

  • Hi, I had RARP last October & have lost most of the feeling in my left thigh apart from a slight "pins and needles" sensation if I press hard. My Consultant thinks it is nerve damage following surgery. I too am on Gabapentin (600 mg a day) although I was taking it before RP for neuropathic problems after 2 doses of shingles a few years ago.

I understand that leg pain is not that uncommon after Prostate Surgery, although it can often be short term.

Hope you improve over the next couple of months, take care.

  • Hello

I am 7 months in and have pains in right leg which is the side where my drainage bag was only removed after 4 weeks .

I also have a feeling of numbness in my feet which I noticed after the operation

  • Hello

I had very severe leg and groin pain that started a few weeks after my surgery, and continued for a couple of months. In the end it went away as mysteriously as it had arrived. I hope your pain goes away soon as well
