MDT paper review.

I thought I would put this post up I don’t know what to make of it really but have just notified my Gp.

As I am over a year into my treatment I thought I would do my own annual review so to speak. In doing so I found a MDT paper on my NHS app which I had never seen before. It was my diagnosis briefing paper for the medical team. It says do not disclose to patient as it will be discussed face to face. Apart from the details of my cancer which were discussed it also refers I guess what would be peripheral findings from the scans I had. None of the peripheral findings were discussed with me at the time.

Most were about degenerative lower spinal issues. However the troubling one for me just said: Marked Coronary Calcification just that as a line item.

The meeting included about 8 MDT Drs and sent to my GP. This was September last year. I knew nothing about it until yesterday! It’s been troubling me since. Obviously the MDT’s concern was Prostate Cancer but I would have thought this deserved a highlight to me. I almost wish I hadn’t read it. But I have notified my GP and wait to here from them.

Best wishes all.Richard

  • Hello Richard (

Interesting. I always check everything om my NHS App as my GP has in the past marked test results as "ok for this patient" and when I have questioned this it has resulted in some further action.

I am lucky being under The Christy in Manchester (the 4th best cancer hospital in the world) and twice on my scans they have picked up other issues and these have been sorted by the appropriate teams.

I would be asking your GP practice manager why no action was taken on receipt of the MDT notes instead of just being filed away,

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Richard Wow - that sounds like a conversation and a half with your GP… I have found getting paperwork on the NHS App to be a bit hit and miss.  My hospital asked me if I wanted to go paperless and I said yes.  However this only works for some departments ( my hospital is a group of four large DGHs).  I find that the consultant letter to my GP doesn’t get scanned onto my GP record for weeks after I get a paper copy - but a year!!!

I have also found that you have to look both in the documents section and the appointment notes section of the App.

I have “full access “ on the app.

I am currently trying to get access to my hospital records - which is a service they promote- but it has to be sanctioned by your consultant …

    Stay positive, be strong
