I was diagnosed with stage 3A prostate cancer in September 2023. Following on from that I had 2 years of Hormone Therapy and 20 sessions of Radiotherapy. The hospital verbally told me that they would follow up for 5 years post treatment.
Yesterday I got a letter saying that becasue my PSA was stable they were discharging me.Thats less than three years after the completion of Radiotherapy in early February 2024.
My last PSA reading was 0.15 in October, prior to that it was 0.02 and earlier undetectable.
Should the hospital be discharging me? It feels a bit premature.
Hello JonnyT
i raised an almost identical post some months ago to yours except my discharge was 3 months after I finished Radiotherapy and still on hormone therapy with a PSA of 1.7. I think from the replies I had it comes down to how different trusts operate with monitoring passed back to the GP. If you are back with your GP you need to take close monitoring of your results as the GP surgery from my experience won’t appreciate your readings need different interpretations to the norm.
best wishes to you Richard
