My husband is now week four of the hormone injection (after having the blocker drug).
He is mostly doing ok he has had some hot flushes and noticed his strength is decreasing but that’s all been manageable thus far.
One odd symptom that seems to have appeared now for the last few weeks is a hideous constant smell. He has spoken to his cancer nurse and we went to the GP and whilst they have not heard of this being as a result of his hormones treatment they couldn’t 100% rule it out.
This is really getting him down, more so than any diagnosis so far, as it’s a smell like rotting that even wakes him up, he has been on antibiotics for almost a week as the GP thought he could have a sinus infection but they haven’t helped. He has no dental issues and we’ve ruled that out.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? He will go back to the GP next week if it’s no better but I’m concerned if it’s the hormone treatment he won’t be able to handle this for three years and will insist on stopping treatment if they can’t offer an alternative. With a Gleason score of 8 and he didn’t want a prostatectomy it is deeply worrying if he can’t continue the hormone treatment.
