hello,
Anyone heard of this?
Robert
Yes, I had vaguely heard of it before. It does seem a better option than radical prostatectomy or radiation for that matter.
It's been made possible because of the development of increasingly powerful MRI scanners which can give a precise enough image to enable the very precise administration of the treatment agent, freezing, laser or ultrasound.
I haven't heard how available it is yet. The long term effectiveness won't be known for years to come, but it does seem to have many benefits.
Too late for those of us who already had the offending gland removed!
Thanks - I’m seeing urologist tomorrow so I can ask the question

Robert
focal therapy uses ablation, extreme temperatures to treat the tumour, this includes Hi fu, Cryosurgery and other newer treatments.
Hi fu is probably the best known with good success rates, criteria for hi fu is lowish psa, Gleeson 6 or 7, smallish tumour,
not located near prostate capsule edge.
I don't know the Focal therapy center but I did have a consultation with Marc Laniado and was quite impressed.

What is happening in 11 days Robert? Good morning.
Steve
Well, I can think of better items to put in a pair of cufflinks.
Hope it all goes well, let us know.
Steve
