due my first chemo (docetaxel) tomorrow friday 1st of feb .

Anubis
I don't have any experience of this but I have read some good things about acupuncture helping with chemo side effects online. I would say that anything like that is worth a go but try and find someone who specializes in dealing with chemo side effects, if there is such a person.
regards
Steve
Hi anubis
I’m presently having acupuncture, though I’m not having chemo. I was rather stressed having been newly diagnosed and was suffering some really horrible headaches which would floor me totally. My sleep was affected too. I’d wake to find every thought and worry crowding into my head fitting for space.
Since I started acupuncture I’ve found that my mind is quiet now when I wake. There could have been a number of factors that could have produced this result, however since I started I found my stress levels have dropped and I found that sleep arrived earlier. Therefore I feel that the acupuncture has had a beneficial effect.
One of the best parts of it is, that whilst I’m having my treatment the time and space is totally my own. My own hour of me time, which is something I don’t normally have in my daily routine. Well with the exception of going to the toilet!
Personally I’d say explore it, give it a go. It might help, it might not, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I have never had acupuncture but it has helped my wife on many occasions. It's not going to do any harm and may do a lot of good so give it a try and see if it works for you.
Hi
This may be a bit late in the day for you but my husband is having acupuncture every week to alleviate side effects of chemo , and to support his heart (he's had 2 heart attacks). I found a wonderful man who specialises in treating chemo patients - he is a proper Chinese medical practitioner of 40 years.
Obviously one does not have anything to quantify it against - but my husband has managed 5 chemo cycles really well with minimal side effects. Just feels a bit rough about 4 days after his infusion, for about a week, then back to normal. I highly believe the acu has helped enormously.
Good Luck!!
