18 months ago I was diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer, Gleason 3:4 with fibriform. Fortunately (which is a slightly oxymoronic way of describing such a diagnosis) it was contained in the Prostrate. I was recommended robotic surgery which happened quite quickly and the Prostrate was removed. Since then I have had 5 PSA test monitoring the outcome and I am please to say that my PSA remains undetectable at >0.025%.
I hope this encourages others to opt for swift action. I have had no ill effects. Function is fine now and the 'blue pills' have helped that to return. It is worrying and an emotional drain coping with all the fears and doubts. I didn't have any symptoms apart from the rising PSA score which then rang the alarm bells. My advice is get checked, take the advice and and if offered opt for surgery. Surgery is recommended when the consultant thinks it is the most effective treatment, there are others treatment but they are specific for the state and stage of your diagnosis.
