Hi All
Hubby started his radiotherapy on Monday and got his updated schedule of visits. As in the preliminary one he has Wednesday and Thursday off but has to go in on weekends and on bank holiday Monday. This is fine with us as we are both retired so it makes little difference.
Tuesday was much easier than Monday as the routine was all new. We didn't know when to check in or move to the other waiting room (not sure if this is the same in other hospitals) but on Tuesday we had that sussed!
We were both amazed at how quick the actual treatment was - he was back with me in the waiting room in about 10 minutes! Hubby was happy that he felt nothing and the machine was really quiet.
Not looking forward to the side effects but has none so far. they are not too bad .....
It is just possible that you won't have any side effects.
I only had low level side effects, and they went away entirely pretty quickly.
Of course I did damage my back (completely separate) during the process, so the pain from that would have disguised any problems.
I can tell you, though, that hubby will get through it, and be in a better place because of it.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
Hello Dogs4me
It's going well then, magic.
We don't all get side effects - mine were just increased visits to the toilet and soon faded away.
Carry on - you are doing great.
Best wishes - Briian.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
Having completed 20 of 20 yesterday , my thoughts are the worry and concern is worse than the treatment and it need not be. The treatment is benign and therefore the challenge is to get routine that makes you comfortable and at ease and reduces any anxiety.
What worked for me was going all in in the run up (4 months before), no alcohol, or caffeine and upped the exercise and made my diet more healthy in order to get fit for RT as its all i could do the rest lies with the radiographers.
My side effects are relatively mild; some weight gain, some muscle loss, and more bladder and bowel activity than I was used to and some tiredness but that may stem from all the days activities. These are all manageable and may be in part due to the prep, but everyone is different. My recommendation is to focus on the positive things YOU can do to manage the negative side effects.
Best wishes and it will go bye quicker than you think .
