Hi All . Well had ga biopsy Saturday. After hanging around for 4 hrs panicking and sweating i went down to theatre. Very strange experience as never been put out before. Woke up and had to pee before going home .all in all it wasn't that bad and luckily have had no side effects ( no blood or pain ) just slightly sore below.

Now the wait for results which is playing with my mind and not sleeping well which makes my day harder. Any tips or advice for getting a good nites sleep would be appreciated during this emotional roller coaster !

  • Good morning.

I am glad you didn’t have too bad a time with the biopsy. Mine wasn’t too bad either.

The whole sleeping thing while you are waiting for results can be problematic - your feelings are like a saucepan on simmer.

There are lots of ways of calming down.

This page from the NHS covers most of them:

    https://www.nhs.uk/every-mind-matters/mental-health-issues/sleep/

Unfortunately most of them take practice and aren’t a quick fix.

In the end I had a chat with my GP and he prescribed a few doses of anti-seasickness tablets which make you (me) slightly dozy. Not much, but enough.

For a quick relaxing I use something called “box breathing”, which goes like this:

    • Step 1: Inhale. Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose to a count of four, filling your lungs and abdomen.
    • Step 2: Hold. Hold the air in your lungs for a count of four.
    • Step 3: Exhale. Release the air slowly through your mouth (or nose) to a count of four until your lungs are empty.
    • Step 4: Pause. Hold your lungs empty for a final count of four before starting the next cycle.

It works for me. It has a physical effect.

If I check my blood pressure before and after, the Systolic (top) measure reduces by about 10 points.

    So, these work for me.

I hope they work for you.

    Steve

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • Hi  , the waiting is probably the hardest part.  Just try to do normal things (but we have all been there) and keep busy.  Once you get the results everything will settle down.

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Hey, I had my biopsy Friday morning. I didn’t have the luxury of going under GA Sob They went in through the Perineum under local which hurt like a goodun.

so far so good with no blood in pee or stool. However seamen is red which scared me, even tho I was told that would happen lol.

now the anxious wait for my results. This whole thing is driving me insane. I can’t sleep, struggle to eat and constantly worried. I’ve done alot of research and i’m preparing myself for bad news to make it easier at my appointment as and when i get it. I’m only 1 day ahead of you. All the best mate
