Two months post op.

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to post an update on my cancer journey. My profile gives details of my situation.

I'm two months on from my prostatectomy on March 12th. I had my first PSA since the op and the level is undetectable/ untraceable with a reading of >0.01.

As I reflect it seems (for me) to have been fairly trouble free. Continence is fine, just beed to be aware of coughing or bending. ED is an issue (but it was before the op) so that's not been a significant issue for me.

The most troublesome part was the catheter post op, but that us only for a week. Removal was fine with no issues.

I don't regret my decision at all and now I'm 'cancer free' I can get on with my life.

I'm always aware that each decision is personal but I'm 100% happy with my decision

My best wishes to everyone who is going through their own prostate cancer journey and hope you are as happy with your outcome as  I am with mine.

  • Well done , thank you for posting, it's a great encouragement to all.

I hope everything continues to go well for you. Long may it continue.

  • Really glad to hear your operation went well. Had mine just over a year ago. First PSA post op was undetectable but second one had increased to 0.5, over my threshold of 0.2.

So was referred again, more scans but nothing was located as to where the PSA rise was coming from.

So was put on hormone treatment and finished salvage radiotherapy a month ago. Hopefully find out at the end of June that it sorted the cells still present.

Apparently not uncommon to get a bio chemical recurrence.

  • Fingers crossed  that all goes well.

  • Still on the curative pathway, just ended up having to have both treatment options, but that hopefully sorts it.

Can remember the catheter experience Grimacing was more concerned about that at the time, than the operation itself!!

  • Me too! I'd heard horror stories about removal as well but I had no issues.

  • I literally ran into the room and jumped on the bed. Came out okay but then had quite bad pain for half an hour. Was fine after!!

  • hi.    I’m 9 months post op and my surgery has gone pretty much the same as your.   I was continent after TWOC     I agree the catheter is a pain but what’s the alternative! Haha    Like yourself I’m happy with my choice.   I’ve just had my 3 post op psa which was undectable.    All the best.  Simon
