First meeting with oncologist

After the debacle with my surgeon I asked to be referred to oncology which the surgeon agreed to. He was probably relieved. Anyway the meeting went well. The consultant was a young female and having told her that my biggest problem was the patriarchal approach she promised to give me all the facts no matter how blunt they were. She advised that although my PSA was 0.07 at lat blood test she expected it to be at least 0.1 when next taken on June the first, at this point she would arrange the PET scan followed asap the planning scan. At the planning scan I would have the first of two years of hormone therapy. I would then commence 33 sessions of radiotherapy. She did not criticise the surgeon, she just said he had a different approach. I did not tell he that he had said some of the oncologists were useless!!! Perhaps I should.

I did put in a formal complaint about the surgeon but my wife asked me to remove it to concentrate on my own well being. We have a holidaay in June which the oncologistst qalmost insisted we took.

So here we go on the journey we never expected, wish me luck!!!

  • Hi

It sounds like you've been through a great deal so I hope you have a lovely holiday.

I think you might have meant to post this in the prostate cancer group, where I can see you've posted before, as this group is meant for self-expression, creativity, photos, songs, poems, etc.

    Wishing you all the best
