The subtle PSA rollercoaster…

Hi y’all

Just had a call from my Nurse for this seasons PSA

Short story long, RP in 2018 Gleason 4 plus 3, clear margins, PSA undetectable until Aug 2019

Since then gentle rises and falls:

Feb 2025.  0.12

Aug 2025.   0.09

Feb 2026.   0.14

Obviously concerned at an overall upward trend, slowly over the last 5 years

I suppose I’m reaching out for insight from others who have similar numbers.

Although I’m in no danger, it feels like a Recurrence about to happen

Ta in advance

  • Hi Anton

I'm always following these numbers but I don't think u have a problem.

A bit  up and down perhaps but hardly a big rise  over  the one year.

As long as it doesn't continue an upward trend then all ok, good that you are having PSA every 6 months.

You are better than me , mine  is at  .26 although that is the lowest its been.

    All the best

    Steve

  • I think any change in the numbers causes us to worry. My husband gets his PSA results tomorrow and I feel so anxious and I don't know why because they have been stable since he ended his chemo in November 23.

  • Hi  that looks really odd to me.  So after RP I guess you are expecting zero so any trace is worrying.  However, if you had a recurrence why did it go down last year?  I can’t understand those numbers to be honest.  I guess your team may take action if a rise to 0.2 is detected at some point.  Can anyone else help me here?

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Sorry Anton, misread it, you have had surgery.

    Ignore what I said, apologies.

  • Hello

I can't comment as that would be giving medical advice  - but - clear margins in 2018 and a low Gleason score in the same year, PSA is slowly rising - I think they (your team) may well let you get to 2 before they do anything!

You could push for a scan but I think it will be a no! Stick with the 3/6 monthly tests and try and enjoy life - not what you wanted me to say but I am being honest!

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Ok, let's start again after my original mess up.

What were your PSA readings from 2019-2025.

Not all of them necessarily, just give one per year of you like or were all nearly zero until 2025?

    Best wishes

    Steve
