Hi all, has anyone gone on to any particular diet since dispose treatment? I am 8 months into my journey and had brachy boost and just about to come off 6 months orgavyx. From around September I have changed my diet to 90% vegan and allow myself a weekly bit of chicken and odd treat , I also cut out alcohol and walk 10k steps a day.
Have to say despite the HRT ( I’m lucky to only get 6 months ) I feel really really good! My bowels are amazing, I drink 2.5 litres water today and the odd Guinness zero.
My first post treatment psa was 0.03 and so far I couldn’t ask for better, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else has done similar or different and how they are feeling etc? Seems to be a lot of research done now about cutting out all animal protein and doubling up on broccoli , cauly, cooked toms etc . I guess I won’t know how my diet has affected my psa but the way I see it if I can fight the pc ( it doesn’t deserve capitals ) from every single angle , I may not be a doctor but this gives me the feeling I have some control and doing my bit?
Id love to hear from others ?
Hi Angus,
I did the exact same thing, vegan diet, cut out alcohol, and I exercise/weight lift like a madman...
Like You I want to do everything in my power to fight this, and to keep the side effects from treatment at bay, and a good healthy diet and exercise are my best bet (and a positive frame of mind, again, diet and exercise help with this), the rest I trust my team with, and not forgetting the amazing support from family and friends...
I've just started RT with a psa of 0.11 ( as of mid December) and I'm feeling great, hopefully mine creeps down to somewhere near yours, that's a great result...
All the best going forward...
Jay
Hi Jay wow you are on a roll that’s an amazing result before you even start RT! For me the RT was fine and actually you feel better mentally knowing it’s getting the kitchen sink and like you that was only part of my treatment and they told me I was being over treated which is fine by me! Keep in touch brother
Hi Angus JG , I agree with your view that a good diet really helps and even if it isn’t physiological it is certainly psychological. I have tried to keep to a balanced diet rather than a vegan one and I do have alcohol, but part of that is just balancing a lifestyle and living with HT for years. I am also convinced about exercise being very good although again HT does challenge that over the years. I have a very low stamina but quite a good recovery so can still keep semi active. Your PSA is brilliant, long may that last.
Best wishes, David
