Been a while since logging in here. My stage is 3Tb, seminal vessicles involved but not the lymph nodes. Had a scare with results on bone scaral areas were showing up on scan which required investigating. These were pelvis , spine and chest area. ?0
Had PET scan before Xmas but had to wait over Xmas period before results, so that was fun. Also had other problems to deal with like extreme toothache,
the joy of hot flushes, creaking bones and fatigue of the hormone therapy. We were due to celebrate new years eve at an event and stay over with close friends.
Unfortunately my friend passed away on 30th December due to lung cancer, he had only been diagnosed 2 months ago. It was a shock as we were close, his brother who were are also friends with has stage 4 cancer in various locations.
I got good news yesterday that my localised prostate cancer has not spread to other parts of my body. The hot-spot they were checking were bone related wear, previous injury ans spine degradation.
Going for pre radiotherapy appointment on 26 Jan, then 2 weeks later starting 4 weeks of radiotherapy.( 5 days a week for 4 weeks).
Picked up my laxatives and having next HT jab also on 26 th, day before my birthday lol.
PSA has dropped from 4.6 to 0.26 so that is promising. Apparently there is an 80% chance of being cured so that's good.
Not looking forward to the treatment but I am grateful to be able to have it. Will update when treatments start.
Meanwhile , wish you all good luck and stay strong.
Hi Nigel
You say not looking forward to the treatment, understandably, but actually Radiotherapy was fairly easy, nothing much to be concerned about, the only issues I had was constipation and urinary issues but meds can help that and issues went away a couple of weeks after treatment finished
So good luck, am sure will be ok
Steve
Hello Nigel (Nigel404de6 )
Thank you for the update - all looks good and I love the quoted statistic:
Apparently there is an 80% chance of being cured so that's good.
Radiotherapy is very targeted these days and I found mine easy, with only slight fatigue and a short period with an increased flow. We have a thread you may wish to read before your radiotherapy - link here:
What you wish you had known before starting Radiotherapy?
Feel free to come back with any questions.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thankyou all for your replies, they were very helpful, especially the 'what you wished you had known before '.
The treatment itself does not bother me, more concerned about the side effects regarding keeping control of my bladder and the frequency. At the moment I have the occasional 'accident' and at night I get up at least 6 times a night.
The lack of a decent sleep is errr......very tiring. I combat it by just sleeping whenever I feel like it. I have also purchased some incontinent pants for the journey home....but will take a bottle as well plus the backpack with some spare clothes. As for my bowel, I have IBS so am used to rushing to the loo, plus I have some soothing creams lol....what a conversation to be having lol.
Hello Nigel (Nigel404de6 )
You will be fine - once you get into the swing of it the month will flash past.
Just remember the Radiologists have seen everything and if you have any problems, issues, worries just ask and they will sort you out.
Best wishes - Brian.
