Age 53, PSA 3.76, MRI pT3a and biopsy confirms PC, Gleason 4+3. Now awaiting a bone scan, I’m told it is precautionary but since this started a few weeks back it seems my aches and pains are now doing overtime. Don’t really know what I want to ask to be honest, perhaps the experience of others.
Hi KAB 197 and welcome
So T3a just outside the gland but probably nowhere else, although understand the bone scan just to be sure
Gleeson not particularly aggressive and PSA actually quite low considering T3a.
Hopefully bone scan soon cos I reckon HT needed to stop it in its tracks although they are probably waiting for the bone scan first.
It's probably going to be HT and Radiotherapy treatment wise , best forget about surgery as outside the gland now
Hopefully that is what they will offer you.
All the best
Steve
Hello KAB197
Welcome to the group, although i am very sorry to find you joining us. That'a a low PSA for a T3a (T3a - The cancer has broken out of the gland but there's no sign of a spread). The bone scan will be a "bib and braces" job to make sure there's no spread as per your diagnosis.
At this time you are more than likely to be offered Surgery (providing there's no spread), Hormone Therapy & Radiotherapy or Brachytherapy (this isn't available in all areas but it may be suitable and you can ask for it).
Personally I would be researching the 3 possible treatments using trusted sources - Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and Prostate Cancer UK (not Dr Google or AI). Make a list of how the treatments (and side/lasting effects) would affect you, your wife and family.
Some of us have a detailed account of our personal journey and you can read these by clicking on a user name or avatar.
Feel free to ask any questions, nothing is too trivial.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi kab. Yeah every little ache and pain will be x100. But rest assured it’s won’t be related The bond scan is the worrying thing though ( I know others will testify) it’s just a belt and braces things and has to be done before you can move forward. I’ve had surgery so if you want any info drop me a line. With a psa that low you will be fine. Take care. Simon
