Hi all,
I have my biopsy tomorrow afternoon. I have a PI RADS of 4, so I'm prepared for the worst with the results, but hoping for good news.
My question is, do you think it would be ok to take Morphine before the biopsy to help get me through it?
I have some left from earlier in the year from severe back pain.
Thanks all
Hello HerefordDad
The answer is no! You will be offered pain relief there and to takeaway so no, otherwise if you have morphine in your system any anesthetic offered at the time of the biopsy may have the opposite effect - make you incapable of having the biopsy.
Best wishes - Brian.

As I mentioned to another member having his biopsy today, mine was painless with just the local anaesthetic. I didn’t even feel that go in - and the nurse said there was some left in case it was needed. It wasn’t.
Ask if you can take your phone in to listen to some music or whatever so your mind’s focus is away from being a bit uncomfortable and what’s going on ‘down there’. One of the team sat down and chatted to me while I was being done, which really helped keep me occupied. Didn’t even need a Paracetamol later when the local wore off.
Do expect some blood mixed in your urine for a while afterwards though. I’m sure they will tell you about that. Good luck!
