Hello to all fellow people with P.C problems. As I have not posted for a while I thought I would say how things are going. As some of you know I was diaganosed in 2019 wit a P.S.A of 1220.over time that has reduced to now 29.88.It did go down to 20.5 at one time, but increased. After that my Oncolegest sotopped my daily dose of Bicalutamide in November but to carry on with the three monthly Zoladex.Over the last fortnite I have had two scans,Bone and C.T so now waiting for results.

My next appointment with the Oncolegest is February so then all will be revealed.I have not been put on any new tablet as yet.Perhaps they are waiting for Scan results.Hope you all can enjoy Christmas without too much worry.Best wishes to one and all.

            Derek.

  • All I can really say is "Well done that man!"

Have a good and relaxing Christmas, and I hope your meeting in February is a good one, with all the right results.

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • Hello.Just had a phone call from my hospital to say an appointment has been made for January 5th at 9am which is outside my oncologists normal hours,The February appointment has been cancelled.P.S.A has increased only three tmes from 26.81 to 29 ?not sure on the points. As I have beem made an oppointment out of normal hours and so early in the year does not look good. That has spoilt my Christmas.

  • Hello Derek (

Thank you for your update. So in November your treatment changed, and some medication stopped. You have had a bone can and CT scan and you have a slight increase in your PSA.

Personally looking on the bright side, your team have seen the results, the realise stopping the medication may have been wrong and they want to correct things. The earlier appointment can only be a good thing as it shows your team are looking after you.

Try and relax, DO enjoy Christmas and the New Year and renew the battle on January 5th.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you Brian. you have made me feel a little more optimistic and the belief that they are trying to, if not cure but keep it under control.Once more unto the breach.!

  • I told a friend about my appointment change he said could be to do with the Doctors strike. All appointments have been rearranged.A valid point.?

  • Hello

The NHS moves in mysterious way. Yes it could be due to the resident Doctor's strike or even some cancellations.

A couple of years back I had an appointment for a colonoscopy - it came through at 7.30 am on a Sunday morning (that's the last thing you want first thing in a morning!) Whilst I was recovering with my tea and toast I asked about the early Sunday appointment - the answer is we have a backlog and the whole team has agreed to work 4 full Sunday shifts to clear it.

Look on the bright side - you don't have such a long wait for the meeting now.

Enjoy Christmas and have a great New Year.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  try not to read too much into a date change. Despite having an appointment today, I was called unexpectedly yesterday.  Instead of my cancer nurse is was an oncology Dr, so my immediate thought was this is bad.  Turns out they were trying to clear the backlog, nothing more sinister. Have a lovely Christmas.

    Best wishes, David

  • More update. Hello All.Appointment with Oncologists on Monday 5th and ok with the scans as far as they can see.But there a small cancer next to my spine.Because it has spread via the blood circulation. So the Doctor is recommending Radiotherapy just one shot.Apparently it only lasts for about fifteen minutes and no side effects.

It will be some time in February so by that perhaps not too ergent. And the Oncologists said there  is a 60/70 % it wil reduce the P.S.A.And stopping it spreading to my Spine which could be dangerous.I have been told by friends who have had the treatment that it is all ok.I will try not to worry. Derek

  • Hello Derek (

Well, thank you for the update. There's good news there, they have found the cancer, are going to treat it with Radiotherapy and it should get rid of it.

Good luck with the treatment - do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  I guess that is good to find a spread in a location which can be treated.  Sounds like your will be getting stereotactic RT which is highly targeted.  I had this and it was absolutely painless.  Fingers crossed that it sorts everything out.

    Best wishes, David
