Hi
I’m 51 and found myself on the cancer pathway following a raised PSA over two tests.
PIRADS 5 on MRI and first biopsy had 2 areas deemed suspicious mutations across 12 samples, template biopsy then done under general with 39 samples & been to hospital today for the results.
i could see the green folder on the desk & was thinking please don’t give me this !
It was for me but have a Gleason score of 6 (3+3); T2 and going into active surveillance. It’s a strange old feeling to be told on one hand I’ve got cancer but it isn’t being treated ( for all the reasons I understand)
I’m sure in the coming days I’ll get my head around it….
Something that might ease your mind a bit. Gleason 3+3 is still called ‘cancer,’ but many experts say it behaves very differently from the scary kinds we hear about. It’s usually slow, often doesn’t spread, and most guys do really well with just monitoring. I’m not trying to minimize anything — just letting you know that this diagnosis often has a very good outlook. I have 9 myself but reading other peoples stories there are some horrible cancers out there. All the best.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
