Newly diagnosed:
PSA 7.08 Gleason 3+4 Stage 2. Enclosed in prostate only. Enlarged prostate no serious symptoms st all.
I will be having Radiotherapy only. I would be keen to hear of experiences with Conventional only and Stereotactic Radiotherapy only (no hormones) please. Many thanks. Chris
Thank you Steve!
Was it effective or what was the outcome please?
I will have many more questions overnight as I get used to this new medical vocabulary. The Oncologist has also indicated 20 sessions for moi. Thank you again. Chris
Hello Chris (Repton122d95)
Welcome to the group although i am so sorry to find you here. I had radiotherapy in conjunction with Hormone Therapy and you can read the notes for my journey by clicking on my name or avatar. No long term after effects (yet!).
Here's a link to our guide to Radiotherapy:
Radiotherapy-for-prostate-cancer.
Although radiotherapy has come on in leaps and bounds and now some hospitals use laser targeting as opposed to tattoos you might wish to check out something called "Space-Oar". It's not usually provide on the NHs but you can purchase it yourself if you think it's worthwhile.
Feel free to ask any questions, however trivial.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Repton122d95 , I have a feeling that stereotactic RT isn’t an option at the start (but I might be wrong). It is very targeted and high dose so generally used on micro mets. You are on a curative pathway.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Well the outcome is
I'm still here, yes went ok, quite easy actually, I didn't think conventional was used that much now so perhaps you'll be having the same as me.
Best wishes
Steve
Excellent Brian. Thank you and more questions will follow in this week once I understand a little more. Chris
Thx Steve as I need to contact the NHS Consultant again soon and ask these sort of questions. So your words are very encouraging. When I asked the excellent Oncologist if I might skip the hormones stage he immediately said yes! Best wishes Chris
Yes Chris, that does seem quite unusual, they do like to add the HT probably as a belt and braces approach. As long as stats are low then should be ok without, yours do seem low
All the best
Steve
What an incredible journey Brian !! I will read your story again in daylight when I am fully awake. Congratulations when sharing your story as it's an inspiration to all. Your Christmas Day happenings anniversary is on the way soon! Chris
