DH started on Orgovyx in August and it took until the end of October for the side effects to subside.
Now he's a week past his first Decapeptyl injection and is also now taking Abiraterone. Side effects have returned with a vengeance and last night he recorded only 4 hours sleep because of constant hot flushes and sweating.
This is not sustainable medium to long term, so my questions are, will this settle and, if so, how long is it likely to take?
Thank you
Hello ansteynomad
I have had 3.5 years on Decapeptyl and had every side effect going and some not even listed!! I have managed to cope with all of them and now none of them bother me.
The hot flushes were the hardest to get over - it was summer and I was marinating in my own sweat at night!! The simple answer was Sage Tablets (Menoforce) they are a tad expensive but work for me (they don't for everyone). They took about a week to stop the hot sweats.
As with any supplement - check with your team to ensure there in no medication clash.
Best wishes - Brian.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
Hot flushes and night sweats continue unabated and are making life very difficult. The poor man is trying to survive on 3 or 4 hours sleep and I am struggling to keep up with the washing.
He feels physically awful most of the time and is becoming depressed (I'm not surprised). Neutrophils are low and ALT is high. The hospital does not test the other things that were out of range on his original blood tests.
His weight is dropping and I am concerned that, despite his PSA now being undetectable, something is wrong.
I've been on Abiraterone (with Prostap) for two years, and also suffered from severe hot flushes which interrupted my sleep and required me to sleep with a towel as I'd soak the bed sweating. I was eventually put on medroxyprogesterone 20mg and that really sorted it, I still get flushes but they're very mild and manageable, and dont wake me up at night. sleep is still not great (I think it's the steroids) but MUCH better than when the hot flushes woke me up every hour.
hope this helps
