  • A ladies fan for immediate cooling is a good thing to have lurking about you with all the pills, and zipped up or buttoned up cardies or hoodies are my essentials.

    Good luck

  • I had problems with hot flushes and was prescribed Medroxyprogesterone 10mg tablets 2 once daily .

They proved effective . The course lasted a month . I have been off them two months and the flushes seem to be returning

I gave them a break as I understand they can lead to bone thinning

    good luck Fingers crossed

  • Hi  ,

I haven't tried this drug, so not really of help.

The sage didn't work for me either, so I looked at other things that might, and thought to myself "Nope, taking enough other drugs already."

I decided to put up with the blasted things.

Then my chiropractor said something that made me think, when talking about the issue as he had to deal with a sweat soaked me. I apologised, and he said "Oh, I'd count it as a win."

When I asked him when he had gone bonkers, he explained that he would simply note it as evidence that the drugs were working. I thought about that for a while, because in truth the drugs are simply suppressing the testosterone which is, in turn, starving the cancer.

He is right, though. It is the only real evidence we can have that the drugs are active.

So now, when I have a hot flush, I imagine little cancer cells boiling in their own juices. It is not strictly accurate, but it makes the hot flushes much easier to deal with.

    Changed, but not diminished.

  • Hi Steve,

It's ironic that your chiropractor should look at it that way, I've been off the HT now for almost a year but the hot flushes are only now beginning to diminish and I have consoled myself with a very similar thought for some months now.
Back in May this year my Testosterone level was quoted as <0.4 and I am still suffering with ED to some degree despite the Tadalafil that I have been taking since May.
All of that goes to point the same way.

I wish your brother all the very best.

  • Hello

Here's a link to the NICE guidelines:

    bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/cyproterone-acetate/

Interesting side effects there including leading to diabetes, depression, man boobs and HOT FLUSHES.

However I can't go against medical advice!

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you Brian

my brother has decided against taking them he said he doesn’t want to put any more side effects in the mix and I agree with him he said hot flushes will have to be tolerated as it’s all worth it .
thank you for replying and I hope your doing well Brian
